Here is who I am.....

I am a retired Electrical Engineer. While an engineer, I worked for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for 35 years. JPL is a NASA facility that is operated by one of the finest universities in the country, the California Institute of Technology (CalTech). JPL is the organization that sends spacecraft and rovers to Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and other far away space objects. While I was there, I worked on over 50 different fascinating projects and used my knowledge of mathematics, engineering, physics, and computer science extensively.

I have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and I have a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, at Austin.

I retired in 2006, and my wife Jerry and I moved to Lakeway, Texas. Since 2007, I have been a science fair judge at a local elementary school, and a senior science fair judge at the Austin Energy Regional Science Fair. In addition, I am also on the Science Review Committee for the Austin Energy Regional Science Fair as well. I have also given presentations at school "career days" explaining the joys of working at a facility like JPL and why a good foundation in math and science is important. In addition, I have tutored for a short while at a Sylvan Learning Center.

I am a strong advocate of math and science in our education system, and now, since retiring, I would like to share my practical knowledge of math and science with students.

The 2010 year will be my third year of tutoring. Most of my students attend Lake Travis High School and come for tutoring in Algebra, Geometry, Pre Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics.  I have had some students from the middle schools. I also have tutored students that are taking University of Texas online courses, and a student taking a Texas Tech Physics correspondence online course. I have also tutored students from St. Andrews, St. Michaels, Regent, and Khabele private schools. Finally, I have tutored a student going to Texas State University in Calculus and Physics.

Besides tutoring, I also enjoy playing tennis, kayaking, and playing the saxophone.
